My Approach
I use the Orton Gillingham approach to deliver Structured Literacy lessons. Central to this approach is the multi- sensory nature of the lessons that engage visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, and tactile senses.
Focus of Instruction
Lessons start with predictable and simple concepts and build systematically and sequentially to more complex and less predictable concepts.
The lessons explicitly address the 5 pillars of reading instruction:
- Phonemic Awareness
- Phonics
- Fluency
- Vocabulary
- Comprehension
Available Lessons
I believe in nurturing each student's unique strengths by providing personalized attention in a 1:1 setting. 30 or 45 minute sessions are available in the west end of Kingston, Ontario.

After developing a personal interest in literacy several years ago, I completed post-graduate training in Communication Disorders and Associate Level A and B Orton Gillingham training under the tutelage of a Fellow of the Academy of Orton Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. My passion is meeting the literacy needs of children in the community, empowering them to achieve their potential and life goals.
Prior to this endeavour, I graduated from Yale University (B.Sc., Int) and the McMaster University School of Medicine (M.D.). I have worked in medical research and also had the privilege of serving as a Special Agent in the Federal Bureau of Investigation. I have lived in Kingston for 13 years and am a proud wife and mom.
